The study of sleep and its disorders is usually performed by means of a neurophysiological exploration, which is a record of the overnight sleep pattern of a patient having previously been connected to a series of electrodes.

These electrodes are placed on the head, on the edges of the eyes, nose and mouth, chest, abdomen and legs, and will record an electroencephalogram (EEG), eye movement , nasal and mouth breathing, electrocardiogram (ECG), thoracic breathing movements, abdominal breathing movements, body position during sleep and movement of the legs, respectively, these being  amongst  the most important factors.

Processing and studying the complex information provided by all these electrodes (polysomnogram) enables us to diagnose various sleep disorders.

Sleep study through polysomnography is totally painless, harmless and has no side effects or contraindications.
